: The Sports Director/Anchor is responsible for all facets of sportscast production including anchoring, writing, editing, shooting, and reporting for BCSN’s flagship nightly sportscast, as well as incorporating such content in to the station’s digital platforms, and viewer interaction From stacking a nightly 30-minute newscast to enterprising and producing feature storytelling for multi-platforms, the Sports Director/Anchor is a proven self-starter and team player who thrives in the high-energy, fast paced culture of sports journalism. An experienced storyteller and leader, the Sports Director/Anchor is tasked with all facets of managing the concept-to-broadcast sports news gathering process, from asset assignment to nightly show debriefs. The Sports Director/Anchor is responsible for coordinating staff schedules and stories, organizing video and editing equipment, and communicating with all areas of the greater BCSN staff in regards to production, sales, and promotion. The Sports Director/Anchor reports to the BCSN Market Manager. Direct Reports for this position include: Sports Nightly Producers, BCSN Production Specialist, Sports Nightly Directors
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Sports Director/Anchor is accountable for the following functions for Buckeye Broadband:
Management of Sports Nightly Team schedules, work flow, and equipment Anchoring BCSN’s flagship nightly sportscast, Sports Nightly; Anchoring and hosting BCSN weekly shows and specials; Contributing to the Sports Nightly team that develops, produces and delivers the relevant broadcast, digital and/or social media assets required for linear television, digital and social media engagement including linear, digital, and social media platforms Developing and implementing saleable segments, series’ and franchises for use in BCSN programming; Using production and editing equipment for show segments, creative videos, and in-house promotions for BCSN and Local Stations; Using creativity to write and coordinate scripts and creative graphics for videos used for promotions and videos; Creating community ties and relationships with Athletic Directors, coaches and players to help in facilitating content for BCSN; Contributing to the Sports Nightly team that ensures adherence to quality broadcast, digital and social media standards, deadlines, and proper procedures; Contributing to the production of various promotional materials created by the creative work group; Collaborating with the creative team to take projects from concept to final execution within established deadlines; Participating in community outreach and promotional activities sponsored by the company; Maintaining an expert working knowledge of all production and postproduction resources including studios, cameras, lighting, audio, editing systems and graphic programs; Following and enforcing the Company’s policies and procedures, including the EEO guidelines and safety, at all times; Performing any miscellaneous duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelor degree in Communications, Broadcasting, or other relevant field – Required 2 Years of Management/Supervisor Experience - Required 3 Years of experience with shooting, editing and feature story writing in a commercial TV news environment – Required 3 Years of On Air work – Required Experience with Newsroom Production Systems like ENPS or iNews – Required Strong knowledge in content creation and information gathering for major social media platforms – Required Working Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and codecs for web video – Preferred The Sports Director/Anchor is a full time, salaried/exempt position. The regular working hours may vary to accommodate the needs of the department and includes weekends and/or holidays.
