Description:
King University is accepting applications for a full-time faculty member for a leadership appointment to the Bachelor of Science in Sport Management program. The Sport Management major features an interdisciplinary curriculum. A strong core of general business and sport management-specific courses are complemented by related and relevant studies in psychology, ethics, law, communication, and social media. University faculty members work collaboratively to provide high-quality academic experiences for students in a supportive, Christ-centered environment, with an alliance in student advising with the academic team to ensure that students have the assistance, tools, and resources needed to be successful as they move toward their educational and professional goals. This is a full-time, twelve-month position to start in fall 2022.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified applicants will possess a master’s degree in Sport Management or related discipline from an accredited institution. A commitment to advising and mentoring students and a dedication to continuing professional development are essential. Furthermore, applicants must submit a profession of Christian faith. Applicants must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, effective oral and written communication skills, competence in the usage of technology, and proficiency in the utility of the APA style (latest edition). The candidate must be well-organized.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Sport Management or related discipline from an accredited institution • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the higher education level • Ability to teach across the curriculum. The preferred candidate will also possess excellent verbal, digital communication, and technological skills, including proficiency with the LMS (Canvas), and familiarity with online communication platforms such as Zoom, Teams, Google apps, etc. The ideal candidate will possess academic and/or professional experiences that will permit collaboration with our Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science program, our Athletic Department, and local/regional sport organizations
Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship, and course instruction • Effectively utilize technology as part of both the teaching and administrative functions of this position • Design courses, as necessary • Serve on academic and program committees • Evaluate student learning • Demonstrate active scholarly interests in issues pertinent to sport management • Have the ability to speak to individuals and groups regarding recruitment efforts and teaching • Report directly to the Dean and Associate Dean of the School of Health and Professional Sciences.
