This is responsible work in a lead capacity overseeing the Parks and Recreation Division’s fitness-related programs. Responsibilities include organizing and supervising fitness programs and other related activities. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of public parks and recreation philosophy and objectives and the principles, practices, and techniques used in organizing and directing fitness activities.
Considerable knowledge of fitness-related equipment and programs.
Ability to plan, implement, and coordinate fitness-related activities and programs.
Ability to maintain records and compile reports.
Working knowledge of first-aid methods and safety precautions.
Proficient in computer applications, including
Microsoft Office
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
Ability to lift, carry, pull, push, and maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Training, Certification, and Experience
Minimum four-year college degree in Physical Education or Parks and Recreation.
Minimum of one year Parks and Recreation experience.
Or, an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements
Valid Florida driver’s license.
Possess American Red Cross First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Automated External Defibrillator (AED), or ability to obtain certifications within six months of employment.
Copies of required certification(s) must be submitted with the application.
