OverviewnThe Certified Athletic Trainer, Supervisor functions in three roles:n1. As a traditional athletic trainer. In this capacity, the athletic trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic health services under the advice and consent of a licensed team physician. The athletic trainer may be asked to function in this role at an educational institution, professional team, and/or at athletic events in our community.2. As an athletic trainer in an outpatient rehabilitation setting. In this capacity, the trainer works in conjunction with the physical therapist to assist with patient care and the daily operations of a physical therapy clinic.3. As an athletic trainer in a physiciansu2019 office. In this capacity the athletic trainer facilitates effective clinical operations for advanced practice providers and/or physicians.nAdditionally, the supervisor functions as an extension of the Manager/Director providing leadership for fiscal/budget, personnel, and operational functions as well as day to day operations of all the Athletic Trainers.nResponsibilitiesnu2022 Under the supervision of a physician, this position will provide medical services, including:nEvaluates assigned athletes/patients according to the acceptable practice guidelines and in compliance with department policies and procedures.Implements competent treatment and intervention and provides regular re-assessments for the purpose of treatment modification to maximize athletes/patients potential for functional independence, all in accordance with applicable practice guidelines and department policies and procedures. Completes required documentation and maintains pertinent record of assigned athletes/patients to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Schedules patients and obtains necessary authorizations for surgeries, visits, and procedures for patients in physiciansu2019 office and physical therapy clinic. Communicates with athletes/patients, physicians, physical therapists, and coaches effectively and accurately to ensure excellent care and case management.Manages all ATC operations including fiscally/budgets, personnel, and operations in a manner that ensures the highest quality of services and according to organization and department policies and proceduresnu2022 Recognizes the need to and appropriately refers athletes to other disciplines and agencies.u2022 Orients new personnel in accordance with departmental standards.u2022 Orders supplies in a timely manner to prevent delays of service.u2022 Assists schools and partners in ordering appropriate supplies for the educational institution or event.u2022 Works with the sports medicine team to understand and coordinate coverage of games and events at schools and in the community.u2022 Assists athletes/patients to minimize risk of injury through awareness, education, and prevention strategies.u2022 Completed performance appraisals of all athletic trainers. u2022 Assists physician or advance practice provider via:nClinical charting/scribingPre-operative patient educationCoordinating care between providersSecuring necessary DME for patientPatient records maintenanceCommunication with surgeon and families pre-op and intra-operatively, and brace fitting/education to the patient post operatively.nu2022 Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self- care implementation, and overall wellness promotion.u2022 Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct. u2022 Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.u2022 Performs other duties as assigned.nQualificationsnEducation:u2022 Minimal education requirements u2013 Bacheloru2019s degree in athletic training or related field from an accredited college/university. u2022 Mastersu2019 degree and/or athletic training residency preferred.Experience: u2022 Required experience varies based on practice setting and programmatic needs of the facility.nLicensure:u2022 Nationally certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association. Licensed or eligible in the Commonwealth of Kentucky or State of Indiana, as appropriate to the facility. Certification:u2022 Basic Life Saving (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
