Job Description:
Head Coach Women's Rowing - Full Time
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Athletic Director, coach, organize and administer intercollegiate, varsity women's rowing program with primary emphasis on development of Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 boats. The successful candidate will direct all aspects of program including: culture and mission; communication with all constituent groups; academic monitoring system; staff accountability; recruiting and team membership; strength and skill assessment and development; season and practice planning; budget control; equipment management; and aspects of boathouse, truck, trailer, and shell maintenance. Be knowledgeable of appropriate governing body rules including but not limited to: Marietta College, NCAA, MARC and ECAC. Other duties as assigned by Athletic Director which may include: teaching PE skill classes and aspects of athletic administration.
* Recruit by currently accepted methods with an eye toward innovation and an understanding of enrollment yield rates for campus visitors. Bring in at least 10 freshmen per year
* Organize and manage practices and contests including training cycles, skill development, motivation and strategies.
* Operate program within budget parameters. Fundraise with knowledge and approval of Athletic Director and Advancement Office.
* Hire, supervise and evaluate assistant coach.
* Coordinate with DBRC Director to schedule practices, contests and events.
* Manage team and recruiting travel budgets
* Counsel student athletes regarding life skills and other issues related to the college experience in addition to intercollegiate athletics
* Order and maintain equipment
* Plan all pre-season and break needs for facilities and food
* Oversee the boathouse in cooperation with men's rowing coach
* Manage work study students.
* Attend staff meetings and participate in staff development.
* Participate in Pioneer Club events including Golf tournament and Winter Weekend/HOF
* Collaborate with Sports Information Director in reporting all relevant team information.
* Develop collegial relationships among faculty and staff
* Attend annual training sessions in Sexual Assault Education and Prevention and CPR
* Other duties as assigned in athletics administration, campus fitness program and/or PE skill course instruction
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree is required, Master's preferred. Previous collegiate coaching experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong moral character, exceptional leadership. She/he will also have great communication skills and an understanding, appreciation and commitment to the concept of student athlete success in a small private, residential liberal arts college. In additional, the successful candidate must pass background checks for driving, criminal and sexual offenses.
