Assistant Certified Athletic Trainers
. In this position you will assist in the supervision of the athletic training room operation and will work with both male and female sports as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer. You will be an asset to the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes; be a part of a safe environment for student-athletes; and actively participate as a member of the larger health care team. As the Assistant Athletic Trainer you will assist the Head Athletic Trainer, coaching staff and student-athletes with development and maintenance of rehabilitative and conditioning programs and will contribute to an atmosphere of professional, caring, and competent treatment of student-athletes. The person in this position will report to the Head Athletic Trainer and Team Physician.

Primary Responsibilities
Determines a student-athlete’s ability to practice or compete, under the direction of the Team Physician
Mentor Graduate Assistant Certified Athletic Trainers, and Athletic Training Students
Meet with coaches to discuss weight training, practice plans, and athlete injuries and return to practice/play
Cover assigned practices, home and away competitions and other events as assigned
Coordinate assigned sports/athlete preventive and rehabilitative treatments under the supervision of the Head Certified Athletic Trainer and Team Physicians
Assist with student-athlete physical evaluation and arrange for medical referrals when necessary
Assist in the maintenance of assigned student-athlete health/injury records
Monitor and ensure compliance with provisions and regulations of the NCAA, Big Sky Conference, OSHA, HIPPA, and institution
Report any compliance issues to the UM Compliance Office regarding countable athletically-related activities (CARA), student-athlete welfare, or any other applicable NCAA rule and regulation
Participate in the Athletic Training Education Program as a clinical instructor when assigned
Interact in a positive way with all of intercollegiate athletics, the campus and off-campus medical communities
Athletic Department employees and those University employees outside the Athletic Department with NCAA rules compliance responsibilities are subject at all times to NCAA Bylaws 10.1 and 11.1 regarding ethical conduct and the responsibility to positively contribute to a campus culture of NCAA rules compliance. Failure to conduct oneself as such will result in disciplinary or corrective action up to and including immediate discharge.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization
Good standing ATC certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification
Possess or qualify for athletic training licensure in the state of Montana
Knowledge and experience with NCAA rules and regulations
Knowledge and understanding of current practice standards in the field of athletic training, evidence-based practice, NCAA policies, NATA position statements and other regulations important to appropriate care of patients
Excellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills
Ability to work with a diverse population
Ability to effectively communicate with staff, physicians, student-athletes, coaches, administrators, faculty and parents
Preferred Qualifications
Three (3) years of recent collegiate ATC experience
Knowledge and understanding of CAATE standards and working with an accredited education program
First Aid & CPR Instructor
Preceptor experience within an accredited ATEP.
Experience working with one or more of the following sports programs: men’s basketball, women’s soccer, cheer & Dance.

Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package
