The Associate Athletic Director for Development is primarily responsible for overseeing all athletic department annual and capital fundraising efforts, specifically the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund and the general operations of Pirate Blue.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Supervise the Pirate Blue Athletic Fund department by meeting regularly with staff members to establish financial and portfolio goals, review progress toward goals, analyze results and make recommendations for future course of action. Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major and leadership annual gift prospects. Mentor direct reports in areas of improvement on an ongoing basis.
2. Work in conjunction with the University Advancement group in the planning, reporting, and implementation for annual and capital giving. Assist with projects and initiatives as needed (i.e., capital campaign, events both athletic and university sponsored, instituting new procedures). Oversee the orchestration of events including but not limited to golf outings, hall of fame enshrinements, sport kick off events and alumni games.
3. Work closely with all fourteen sports, their sport administrators, and coaching staff to develop donor, parent and alumni events and raise annual giving of former student-athletes. Continue to grow the former student-athlete varsity club.
4. Track direct reports’ progress against their annual work plans and monitor Pirate Blue revenues to ensure financial goals are being met. Provide guidance as direct reports work on solicitations, meaningful contacts, and events.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
5–8 years significant generalized development experience is mandatory
Desired Qualifications:
Preference for experience in a university setting. Management experience and expertise in handling multiple projects simultaneously are critical to this position.
Licenses and Certificates:
Incumbent must have valid driver’s license and access to an automobile in order to visit prospects and donors and attend University events.
