Summary:
Read about the game of billiards from a 25 year plus pool player. Learn about the wide range of players who participate in the game.
Billiards is a pretty cool game because about anyone can play the game. You don't have to be a certain age or height and it doesn't take much physical strength to play the game.
We had a table in my parents basement when I was growing up and I have been hitting the balls around ever since I can remember. You might say that playing pool has always been a pretty big part of my life.
We have many billiards leagues here in Pueblo Colorado and you will find players of all ages and sizes. There are a couple billiards leagues that allow minors 18 and above to play and several Rec. rooms with no age limits. We have a 10 year old in town who has been playing league for several years and he is quite competitive.
We also have a couple pool players in wheel chairs as well as a few other disabilities. Pool is a great sport that everyone can play.
I play in the BCA National Billiards Tournament every May in Las Vegas. There you will find players of all ages, male and female who all play pretty strong. You better run out or control the table with a safety when you get a shot or you may have no chance to win.
My five year hold has already been shooting pool here and there for a few years now. He started out standing on an ice chest and then went to a milk crate. He is just now able to start shooting from the floor.
His game could be good if he would get into practicing and playing by himself once in a while. He always wants me or his mom to play with him. He loses interest fairly quick right now, but I am sure that as he gets better, the game will get in his blood.
Playing pool is a great way to pass the time. If you are competitive it's a great way to compete. If you are a pool player, Have you studied the fundamentals of billiards?
I would recommend taking a course and or reading a book about the fundamentals of pool and billiards. Try typing pool billiards tips into google and see what you come up with.
