We are 9 games into the NFL season and it's time to start talking about the 2007 NFL draft and what teams have a shot at the top pick. Better yet, I'm going to tell you what team will get the #1 pick in the upcoming 2007 NFL draft. Let's get started. First, let's look at what teams are potential targets for top draft picks in the 2007 NFL draft. 2006 has been the season of very bad play. The league is divided between elite teams and really bad teams. - Buffalo at 3-6 - Houston at 3-6 - Miami at 3-6 - Oakland at 2-7 - Pittsburgh at 3-6 - Cleveland at 3-6 - Tennessee at 2-7 - Washington at 3-6 - Tampa Bay at 2-7 - Detroit at 2-7 - Arizona at 1-8 That's 11 teams that have 3 wins or less this season. Here's my selection: The Arizona Cardinals. Why? The Cardinals are 1-8 for starters. Next, they have 3 of their last 7 games against bona fide playoff contenders (SD, DEN, SEA). They have 2 of those games against decent teams in Minnesota and St. Louis. Both of those games are on the road. That leaves two possible victories-San Francisco and Detroit. The 49ers game is also on the road. Arizona could very well finish 1-15, 2-14 or 3-13 at best. It's hard to imagine them doing any better given the schedule. Tennessee will give them a run though. Their remaining schedule is tough, but they have 2 winnable games left and could wind up 4-12. Oakland is also on pace for 3-13 or 4-12. Detroit has some winnable games left and could wind up 5-11. Same with Tampa Bay. The Redskins are in trouble, but since they have 3 wins already, they will probably get the 5th-8th pick this season. The race is on for the top pick. Will Arizona get it? Will it even matter? Time will tell. It will be one of these teams and my money is on the Arizona Cardinals.
